News Site | American Idol

Between Jack Lambert and Kris Allen. I'd give my vote to Kris. He seemed genuine as he was being part of the song and you could see his confidence, intensity growing as the song was going on. Jack Lambert was good but I think he emphasises a lot on the look and so he sells that image as well, what can I say I didn't care much for his singing. Kris will take it.

American Idol: Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Danny Gockey tie?

American Idol was a three-way tie tonight as far as I'm concerned, with Kris Allen, Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey all turning in strong--but not great--performances.

The iTunes downloads theme with no mentor was a dud; nothing jumped out and grabbed us, unless you were already a huge fan of someone.

Kris Allen sung last but was best for me, as he ditched his guitar and pounded out a hearfelt "Ain't No Sunshine" at the keyboards that was definitely his best performance of the season. "This is artistry!" screamed Kara, for some reason.

News Site | Joe Biden's Daughter on Drugs???

Scandal to undermine this administration?, is it true, or just someone's attempt to make money off the Vice-President's family; whatever the reason it's one of the most popular news around the Internet. I suspect it will probably turn out to be a hoax but who knows, I'm sure by the time damage control has been done, someone will have made tons of money having sold the tape to the highest bidder, and the Vice-President will be really popular, too bad it will be for the wrong reasons.

US Vice-President Joe Biden's daughter Ashley filmed snorting lines of cocaine James Bone, New York

The White House was rocked yesterday by claims that the daughter of Joe Biden, the Vice-President, was shown on video snorting cocaine.

The video purports to show Ashley Biden, 27, snorting lines of white powder at a house party in her home state of Delaware.

It surfaced days after Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State, declared that the United States shared the blame for Mexico's violent drug wars. “Our insatiable demand for illegal drugs fuels the drug trade,” Mrs Clinton said on a trip to Mexico.

The video will embarrass Mr Biden, a teetotaller and an outspoken anti-drug crusader who coined the term “drug czar” in 1982 while campaigning for tougher action against illegal drugs.

News Site | Pistachio Recall

Another recall, aren't we the most sophisticated country in the world? I mean shouldn't we have the technology to find these potential death killers before they reach the public. Give me a break, maybe I'm just ignorant but this is scary crap. We just had the peanut butter recall not too long ago and if not mistaken I believe people died, I thought things like this only happened in third world countries, I guess I should know better.

Salmonella Leads to Pistachio Recall

By ANDREW MARTIN and MICHAEL MOSS

Barely two months after a huge recall of peanut-related products, federal officials said late Monday that a California processor would recall about one million pounds of pistachio products because of concerns about salmonella contamination.

The company, Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, based in Terra Bella, Calif., decided to recall its 2008 crop after one of its customers, Kraft Foods, found several types of salmonella during routine analysis of the product. Kraft Foods alerted the Food and Drug Administration of its findings on March 24.

Kentucky receives permission to talk to Calipari

By WILL GRAVES, AP Sports Writer

The University of Memphis gave Kentucky permission Monday to speak to John Calipari about the Wildcats’ head coaching position, then made a final push to try to keep the coach.

Some of Memphis’ key boosters met with Calipari on Monday. But one booster expects Calipari to go to Kentucky, though the person, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing negotiations, acknowledged the coach was torn between the two great opportunities.

The Wildcats had a short meeting at their practice gym Monday afternoon. Asked afterward if they had a new coach, senior Jared Carter said, “I think so.” Asked if it was Calipari, Carter shrugged his shoulders and said, “I don’t know.”

Several other Kentucky players, including stars Jodie Meeks and Patrick Patterson, were escorted by university staffers and did not comment after leaving the Joe Craft Center.

Two men were praised as heroes today after they caught an 18-month-old baby girl who plummeted at least 30 feet from the window of a triple-decker apartment building in Lawrence.

A miraculous reception: Robert Lemire talks about catching the falling infant.

Alex Day, 23, of Lawrence joined Robert Lemire, 45, of Methuen in catching the baby as she hurtled towards the earth Sunday night.

"She looked at me and had a weird look on her face as if to say, 'Wow, all of a sudden I'm down here,' " Day recalled in an interview today. He said he rushed the baby back upstairs to her home. On the stairs, he said, the baby actually started chuckling.

Site News | GM CEO Could get millions of dollars

Another CEO getting fired oh poor guy, what will he do. Wait, he's getting millions of dollars in compensation, this is just ridiculous. I know the auto industry has been in trouble for quite sometime and obviously Wagoner had something to do with it, as an ethical thing to do, he should give back to the people of GM for what they have suffered, potential layoffs, layoffs, paycuts, but I'm almost positive he will not do the right thing. It looks lke this financial crisis is also bringing the worst out of people especially the ones who have too much, now people can see how greedy they can get.

-- General Motors' outgoing chief executive Rick Wagoner is eligible to receive more than $20 million in his retirement package, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Rick Wagoner, who became CEO of General Motors in 2000, announced his resignation Monday.

Rick Wagoner, who became CEO of General Motors in 2000, announced his resignation Monday.

Wagoner announced Monday he was resigning at the request of the Obama administration, which has prodded GM to restructure as the company receives government financing to stay afloat.

Although Wagoner is not eligible for any severance pay upon leaving GM, he is eligible for hefty retirement benefits.

"He has worked for GM for nearly 32 years, and he would be entitled to certain vested awards, deferred compensation, and pension and other post-retirement benefits," GM said in a statement.

Upon Wagoner's departure he will be eligible for both a salaried retirement plan and an executive retirement plan, which at the end of last year totaled approximately $20.2 million, GM spokeswoman Julie Gibson said.

Most of it would be paid out as an annuity over five years, with the remainder as a small lifetime annuity, Gibson said.
